Next information session
Information sessions about our preschool are held regularly for prospective parents. These information sessions enable you to see our classroom, get some Montessori information and have your questions answered. Please contact us to rsvp.
Please note: Children are welcome but be aware that they may be a distraction and you will have to watch them. A Montessori classroom is a very exciting place for young children, but it is not a toy room. Be aware that the classroom is set up for three, four and five year olds and that there will be small and/or sharp objects (scissors) in the classroom, in case you have a crawling baby or a toddler who likes to put items in their mouth.

Tree planting
At Little Earth we not only teach our youngsters to be stewards and caretaker of the Earth and its inhabitants we also teach them to be of service to the community. The Little Earth community is planting trees at Queen Elizabeth II park as part of the restoration project.

Parent Workshop - Developing your Child's Emotional Competence
Our special guest speaker, Maria Ulloa will present a parent workshop on Developing your Child’s Emotional Competence. Maria is a child psychologist from Massey University and spent time at our sister preschool Tawa Montessori while completing a research study. Her latest research findings were presented at the World Congress of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies in Boston, USA, June 2010. Maria has a wealth of knowledge and practical ideas to share with our community.

Christchurch Earthquake
Our thoughts are with the people of Christchurch. On Tuesday 1 March, Theo and Chris drove our preschool van, loaded with donations and tools to Christchurch. They stayed in Christchurch for two weeks and volunteered their handyman/building skills to help the people in the streets of Christchurch. We thank all our preschool families and teachers for their support. The biggest force of nature is the human spirit!

Peace Pole Dedication - Montessori day 2010
Maria Montessori firmly believed in the importance of education for the attainment of world peace, and was nominated for the Nobel Peace prize three times. Our vision is to provide a high quality early childhood education for three to six years olds in an environmental friendly, sustainable environment where children can experience the beauty of nature and nurture their sense of wonder and be engaged in a holistic, nurturing and natural way. We strive to create a green and healthy place for our children. We are currently in the proces of designing and developing an integrated outdoor naturalised environment following permaculture design principles. We are hosting a parent evening to share and discuss a draft of ideas we have for our outdoor area and we would like to hear your feedback.
